Three Musketeers
Shared one of my all time favorite films with my children tonight. Thank goodness I have friends who share their disks with me!

The Three Musketeers, 1974, with Michael York, Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlin, Frank Finley, Charlton Heston, Faye Dunaway, and Christopher Lee, among many others.

The screenplay was written by George MacDonald Fraser, and he used much of the dialog from the book, which I re-read every couple of years. It is one of the reasons I wish I spoke and read French. The other is The Count of Monte Cristo.

Now the spawn understand where The Squiffer's quote comes from "Then sir, we must Bustle!"

Can't say I have watched that version of the film. The 2 versions I think of of the Three Musketeers are 1998 The Man in the Iron Mask and 1993 Disney's Three Musketeers.

In the 1993 version Tim Curry playing the bad guy, really who knew.

Tim Curry plays the role that Charlton Heston has in this film, Cardinal Richelieu.

In spite of that I refused to see that version. Why bother? Heard the reviews. Heard you all talking about it. Can't compare.

Please! See this version!

You have inspired me to get my hands on this and watch it again, it's been WAY too long.

Ugh ... that terrible Count of Monte Cristo movie from a few years back STILL makes me mad. Freaking Hollywood ending ... bah.

And don't get me started on late 90s The Man in the Iron Mask. Um, d'Artagnan was NOT Louis XIV's father. GAH ...
